More about StrawberryFlambae...

"Berries" is our most recent addition to the broodmare band.  This mare was added due to her valued performance bloodlines: sired by the great Hucklebey Berry+/, out of a Bask Flame daughter, has multiples line to *El Mudir, and has a tail female line to the great Crabbet mare, Rodania.  From this breeding, she offers substance, correct structure, and fabulous movement.  We hope to find that special cross for her to continue on these special lines!

SIRE:  Hucklebey Berry+/, Sire Line: *Mirage, Desert Bred

Hucklebey Berry+/ (Huckleberry Bey++ x Miz Bask) will likely go down in history as one of the great Arabian show horses and performance sires of all time.  He began his first career with wins including 1988 Scottsdale English Pleasure Junior Horse Reserve Champion, 1988 US National English Pleasure Junior Horse Top Ten, 1989 Buckeye and US National English Pleasure Champion, 1990 US National English Pleasure Reserve Champion, 1991 Buckeye and US National English Pleasure Champion, 1992 Buckeye Pleasure Driving Champion, 1993 US National English Pleasure Champion, 1995 US National English Pleasure Top Ten, and 2000 US National English Pleasure AAO 18-39 Champion.   His second career, as sire, was just as successful with his progeny numbering 485 and his sire abilities ranking #2 year after year in the performance divisions.  With this stallion now aged (1984), his daughters are now that much more valued by performance breeders!

This stallion was out of Miz Bask (*Bask++ x Hanida by Hanad), pictured right.  Bred and owned by Meekel Arabians ("MHR"), she was a champion halter and English Pleasure mare, and the dam of 13!

Hucklebey Berry's sire, Huckleberry Bey ++ (Bay El Bey++ x Taffona by Raffon++, shown left), was also a great show horse and sire.  His show wins include 1979 US National Futurities Reserve Champion (halter) and 1984 US National English Pleasure Reserve Champion, along with four US National English Pleasure Top Tens.  His offspring number 699, and include champions in every division.

Huckleberry Bey was sired by Bay El Bey++ (Bay-Abi x *Naganka), the sire of 446 (siring three great sons Huckleberry Bey, Bey Shah, and Barbary) and show champion (1973 Canadian National Reserve Champion Stallion, 1974 and 1976 US National Reserve Champion Stallion, 1976 and 1977 Scottsdale English Pleasure Reserve Champion, and 1977 and 1979 Canadian National Champion Stallion).  He is referred to by many as "The Kingmaker".  (His dam, *Naganka, also pictured right - grey).

The next sire in this sire line is Bay-Abi++ (Errabi x Angyl by *Raseyn), awarded 1962 US National Champion Stallion and 1964 Scottsdale English Pleasure Reserve Champion, US National English Pleasure Top Ten, & US National Western Pleasure Top Ten.  He is the sire of 279, but more impressive is that these progeny include 65 champions, 24 national winners, and 28 producers of winners.  His sire line was primarily perpetuated by Sheila Varian of Varian Arabians ("V"), and it traces back to the desert bred 1930 Roger Selby import, *Mirage.

DAM:  Ari Flambae, Dam Line: Rodania, Crabbet Stud

Ari Flambae (Bask Flame x Szandelle), dam of StrawberryFlambae, lived her life as a broodmare, leaving 10 progeny.  She was sired by the great English producing sire, Bask Flame (*Bask x *El Mudir daughter x *Bask daughter).  By combining with her dam side, she was linebred to both *El Mudir and *Bask.  (Shown here as an aged broodmare with a foal at side.)

Szandelle (*El Mudir x Hai Fashion by Hai Karatie+) only lived 11 years, but still managed to produce five foals (all sired by Bask Flame) who showed up to a national level in halter, English pleasure, western pleasure, country English pleasure, side saddle, and show hack.  Her sire, *El Mudir (Wielki  Szlem x Munira, pictured right), was imported from Poland by Halali Arabians (Janice Garrard) in 1961, was purchased by Lasma Arabians in 1969, and became a US National Champion.

Hai Fashion (Hai Karate+ x Bu-Kibir-Witeza) was inbred to the mare Bu-Kibir-Witeza; as Hai Karate+ was also out of her, Hai Fashion was 75% of her blood.  She served her life as a broodmare, and left 10 progeny including Striking Fashion+/ by Strike and Alpine Hai Noon+++// by Bay Susayn.  Her sire, Hai Karate+ (by Comar Bay Beau+++), was the sire of 122 , showed western and native costume, and was a full sibling to Alpine Wind Song (aristocrat mare, dam of four champions).

Bred by Loyd Silva, Bu-Kibir-Witeza (Wahtez x Pomona Arayis) produced 15 foals, including her aristocrat producing daughter Alpine Wind Song.  Her dam (by Sikin) was bred by W K Kellogg Institute, and also spent her life as a broodmare that produced 18 foals.

This dam line was imported and bred on by W R Brown.  *Rokha (Nasik x Rokhama by Astraled) was imported to the US in 1918, and she then went onto produce six foals.  Her daughter, Rabiyat (pictured left), was an English mover and went onto produce 13 foals for W R Brown and the W K Kellogg Institute.

This dam line traces back to the great Rodania through her champion daughter Rosemary (pictured right).  This mare line was carefully bred for many years by Crabbet Stud of England.  For more detail on this dam line, see "More About Lika Carnation"!
