SIRE:  R-A Kuasar, Sire Line: Kuhailan Haifi

R-A Kuasar (pictured left) is a pure Polish bred, bay, 15hh, purebred Arabian stallion born in 1991.  He is among the best Traditio sons, with a strong performance pedigree; and out of a wonderful Negatraz (pictured right) daughter named Moderna, an exquisite mare with very good motion and a full sister to Marushka (dam of Medalion).  Since the age of two, he has been owned by Hoeschele twins in Illinois, and has quietly attained championships in both halter and western pleasure.  As seen in his pedigree, he is certainly capable of siring the trot and did so with our Lika Carnation!

Among his numerous halter and performance wins, Traditio (Gdansk+ x Halali Tamarisk) was a Regional Champion Park Horse and a Scottsdale Top Ten Halter Horse.  His best attributes were his size (15.1hh), high athletic ability, type (smooth bodied and long neck), and substance.  He is credited with 143 registered foals.

Gdansk+ is one of the most acclaimed *Bask++ sons, and out of the 6x champion producing mare, *Gdynia++ (dam of Gdansk, Cognac, and Garnet; pictured right).  Gdansk's show record accomplishments include 1977 Scottsdale Park Horse Top Ten, 1977 US National and Canadian National Park Horse Top Ten, 1978 Canadian National Park Horse Reserve Champion, and 1979 Scottsdale Park Horse Reserve National Champion.  His progeny (643!) have attained 99 champions, 40 national winners, and 64 national winning producers.

This Polish sire line began with the importation of Kuhailan Haifi from Arabia to Poland in 1930 by Prince Roman Sanguszko.  He was described by his buyer as, "Not large, dry, on splendid legs without a trace of cow hocks.  A long neck, a noble head, ...splended high carried tail."  Although he only sired 14 foals prior to his untimely death two years post-importation, his progeny included Ofir, hailed the "Regenerator of the breed!"

Included in Ofir's very first foal crop was what was to become known as the "3 Ws": the great stallions Wielki Szlem, Witraz, and Witez II.  His son, Witraz, would become the chief progenitor of the Kuhailan Haifi sire line in Europe, and it is through his two exported sons (*Bask++ and Nureddin) that the popularity of this sire line became so explosive.

DAM:  NR-Confetti, Dam Line: Rodania of the Blunt/Crabbet Stud in England

NR-Confetti is sired by the great *Bask son, Cease Fire+++ (1980-1995).  This stallion's show record includes: 1984 US National English Pleasure Top Ten, 1985 Scottsdale English Pleasure Top Ten, 1985 US National English Pleasure Top Ten & Stallion Breeding Top Ten, 1986 Scottsdale Pleasure Driving Reserve Championship, 1986 US Nationals English Pleasure Top Ten & Pleasure Driving Championship, 1987 US National English Pleasure Reserve Championship, 1988 Canadian Nationals English Pleasure Top Ten, and 1988 US National English Pleasure Top Ten.  His pedigree boasts such greats as *Bask++, *Karadjordje+++, *Serafix, and *Royal Silver.

NR-Confetti is out of the mare Lena (Serinask x Salena by Gai Chopin; picture taken at 24 years old!).  In addition to being the sire of 265 foals, Serinask (1973-1985) is a show ring champion, including:  1979 Scottsdale English Pleasure and Pleasure Driving Champion, 1979 Scottsdale Informal Combination Reserve Champion, 1981 Scottsdale Informal Combination Reserve Champion, 1981 Canadian Nationals Informal Combination Top Ten, 1981 US Nationals Pleasure Driving Top Ten and Informal Combination Champion, 1982 Canadian Nationals Pleasure Driving Champion, and 1983 US Nationals Pleasure Driving Champion.

These mares trace down to Rodania, a desert bred Kehilet Ajuz mare of the strain of Ibn Rodan of Roala tribe and imported to England by the Blunts in 1881.  She was the founder of a great producing line at Crabbet Stud, and living on most strongly today through her daughters Rose of Jericho, Rose of Sharon, and Rosemary.  By Crabbet Stud, WK Kellogg, Van Vleet Arabian Stud, and Shirley Wilson, this dam line was line bred back many times to Rodania and to the stallion Aziz (many times through his son Mesaoud).  At Crabbet Stud, this resulted in the mares Rose of Jericho (Kars x Rodania, 1883), Rose Diamond (Azrek x Rose of Jericho, 1890), Rose of Hind (Rejeb x Rose Diamond, 1902), and *Rasima (Daoud x Rose of Hind, 1917).  *Rasima and her daughter *Rasafa were imported to the US in 1926, and established this dam line here in the US by serving as broodmares for the Kellogg Ranch.  W.K. Kellogg then produced the mare Ferafa (*Ferdin x *Rasafa, 1932) and her daughter Nasafa (Rifnas x *Ferafa, 1938).  At Van Vleet Arabian Stud, they followed Crabbet breeding tradition with the use of the descendants of outcross stallion Skowronek and then created their own outcross to the stallion *Zarife (Egyptian bred, sire of race winners).  This resulted in the mares Dominica (Hattal *Skowronek grandson* x Nasafa, 1942) and then Mazana (*Zarife x Dominica, 1947).  Mazana then went to Shirley Wilson's Arabian breeding program where he bred the mares Bint Mazana (Sur-Knight x Mazana, 1963), Sherem (Baske-Tu x Bint Mazana, 1973), and Salena (Gai Chopin x Sherem, 1977), which continued the addition of more lines to Aziz, Rodania, and Skowronek.  Salena then went on to produce Lena (Lika Carnation's granddam) by Serinask (with more of these lines!).
