More about Analiza...
Analiza was the start of all things Arabian for us; as a "Thank you!" to her, we have named our breeding farm in her name. This mare has incredible stamina and heart recovery rate; in her first distance race, she took second place (out of 12) at the 2002 Hoosier Fall Ride - Novice 15 mile race. Two weeks later, she successfully completed at 25 mile endurance ride before moving onto her broodmare duties. We expect this mare to pass on a short back, straight legs, good quality feet, and the beautiful Kuhailan look. We could only be so lucky as to have many more Analizas!
SIRE: *Probat, Sire Line: Kuhailan Afas Born in Sweden in 1975 at the well-known Blommerod Arab Stud, this Swedish National Champion stallion is probably the most influential stallion used in post-war Poland of the Kuhailan Afas sire line. *Probat was imported to Poland in 1980 to reintroduce his sire line (particularly that of the great Comet), and then imported to the US by Meadow Woods Farm in 1987. His offspring have proven themselves both on the track and in show rings, and his daughters have proven to be extremely valuable broodmares. Their get have won acclaim around the world, proving *Probat to be one of the great modern sires. His famous offspring include: Gil (1986 Polish Natl Res Ch), Garnizon (1987 Polish Natl Ch), Fawor (Polish Jr Natl Ch, European and World Jr Ch, 1990 Polish Natl Ch), Pruszja (1983 Sweden Jr Ch, 1985 Sweden/Denmark/Norway Ch), Diana (Polish Jr Res Natl Ch, sold for $1.2M in 1982), Almeria (1985 Polish Jr Res Natl Ch), Pistacja (1993 Polish Natl Res Ch), and Dalida (1985 Derby and Oaks winner). He was 28 years old when put down due to severe stifle complications.
His sire, Pohaniec (Comet x
Planeta), was the 1972 Swedish National Champion and best in show
The (Polish) sire line Kuhailan Afas was imported to Gumniska (Poland) in 1931, and he produced the stallion Bad Afas 1940. He stud at Nowy Dwor (Poland), and his best son was Abu Afas 1947. Although he was only used in Polish breeding for two years (before being sold to Germany to produce sport horses), his contribution was of extreme importance as he produced the great Comet 1953. Comet was described as "the most valuable Arabian stallion bred in Poland since World War II", as he was considered to be the whole package and produced it in both his sons and daughters. His get and grandget were outstanding in both halter and park classes. One of Comet's great get was Pohaniec 1965, who then sired *Probat (discussed above).
*Probat's dam, Borexia (Exelsjor x Bogoria), was known as the Queen of Blommerod. Born in 1968 at Sweden's Blommerod Stud, she became the 1974 Swedish National Champion Mare and Best in Show. She then went on to have 11 foals, several of which were exported to Germany, USA, Poland to perpetuate her line. Her sire was Exelsjor (Aquinor x Eleonora); this great stallion was born in Poland, exported to Sweden as a yearling, and then went on to become Swedish National Champion Stallion and European Champion.
DAM: Aretsa, Dam Line: Sahara, Family of Zulejma Bred by Dick and Kay
Patterson, Aretsa was sold to Meadow Woods Farm as a yearling. There she
served as a broodmare, producing four foals sired by Meridian, Gdansk+, and Probat. She is
sired by Negatraz and out of imported Polish mare *Areka.
Negatraz (*Bask++ x *Negotka) was also bred by Patterson Arabians and sold to Meadow Woods Farm. He was a small horse with a big trot. Born in 1971 and deceased in 1995, he became known as one of the best producing *Bask sons (numbering 563), but never taken into the show ring.
Grand-dam *Areka was bred by
Poland's Janow Padlowski State Stud, was imported to Sweden in 1974 (breed to
Pohaniec), and then imported into the US by Patterson Arabians in 1978.
Kay Patterson said, "*Areka was dark brown with beautiful big eyes, ...good
back, long hip, good legs, and beautiful action...Sweet, wonderful mom, good
disposition." She was later purchased by Meadow Wood Farm, and had 14 foals sired mainly b
*Areka was sired by El Azrak (Faher by Trypolis x Ellora), who became the chief progenitor of the Krzyzyk O A line through his son Banat. He has 44 registered get, and had sons exported to France, Sweden, the United States, and Germany.
Analiza is out of the Polish Sahara dam line. It had only two mares in Poland after World War I, which included Pomponia 1902 and her daughter Zulejma 1914. Zulejma's second daughter was Ferja 1924; she was very beautiful and her lineage descends into modern Polish breeding. Ferja's second daughter, Magja 1931 (by Koheilan I) then went on to produce the mare Kaszma 1939 (by Kaszmir). With two more generations crossed with Kuhailan Afas sire lines which produced Kalja 1942 (who produced 10 foals) and then Araukaria 1947 (who produced 4 foals), we then come to Arkadia 1956 (by Wielki Szlem). This mare had 13 registered foals and was imported by the Netherlands in 1968. Her progeny includes Aretuza (by Ferrum), who then produced 11 foals (including *Areka) and was imported by Germany in 1973.
